Richard joined TP Legal after working with several high street firms across Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire, and an employment law/HR consultancy specialising in advising clients in the education sector across England and Wales. He is now an Associate Solicitor in our Employment Law Department.

He obtained both his Law degree and his LPC from Bournemouth University, and completed his PSC at The University of the West of England and BPC Law School.

As a specialist in Employment Law, Richard has experience of advising both employees and employers, including:-

Advising on all aspects of Employment Law, as well as HR processes and procedures; Managing Acas Early Conciliation and litigation before the employment tribunal; Drafting and advising on contracts of employment, policies, and procedures; and Advising on settlement agreements and COT3 agreements.

Examples of recent work:-


  • Successfully negotiating variations to a settlement agreement for a senior employee including an increased compensation sum, a satisfactory reference and retaining a mobile telephone and associated phone number;
  • Advising on a TUPE transfer for a pub tenant in North Yorkshire surrendering their lease and working to a strict completion deadline to ensure the elimination of risk of a breach of the warranties relating to employees contained in the deed of surrender; and
  • Advising on a complex disciplinary appeal process for a client in the care sector;
  • Drafting staff policies (both piecemeal and as part of full staff handbooks); 
  • Advising on the TUPE aspects of a business sale in Woking.    


Additionally, Richard is a skilled independent investigating officer who has been involved in both grievance and disciplinary procedures. He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Outside of work, Richard is often out and about exploring both new and familiar places to visit, but is also keen on reading, writing, and films.
