HR Support for Businesses

We recognise that a little support can go a long way.

Therefore, as part of our Employment Law service for businesses, we can also offer support to your HR manager, as questions often arise where it can be beneficial to discuss them with a solicitor specialising in Employment Law before making a final decision. This service also extends to drafting correspondence for you to send to your employees.

We offer this service for a fixed fee depending on how and when you need the service. For example, you may only need to refer to us occasionally or you may need to discuss matters with us quite frequently. Our arrangements extend from as little as one month to a 12-month rolling contract.

Our fees are determined by the following indicators:-

  • The number of employees that you have;
  • Whether you already have an HR manager or HR adviser available;
  • How many tribunal claims you have had in the last 2 years; and
  • How many large, ongoing HR matters you have (i.e. complex performance, grievance, disciplinary, capability, sickness absence processes).

As an example, depending on your responses to these questions, we may be able to offer a support package for as little as £100 plus VAT per month. However, it is important to note that certain matters will fall outside of this charging structure, in particular:-

  1. If you require us to visit your premises to participate in performance, grievance, disciplinary, capability and sickness absence processes (however, please note that solicitors are usually excluded from processes of this nature in their capacity as solicitors due to the effort to try and achieve a resolution without resorting to a legal alternative);
  2. Drafting settlement agreements; and
  3. Representing you in employment tribunal claims.

What will I get for this service?

Other than the elements falling outside of this service as detailed in 1 to 3 above, this is intended as an all-encompassing service to answer any questions or queries that you might have relating to employment law and HR issues.

In servicing enquiries appropriately, it is best for us to have a named contact within your business who can contact us directly for advice so as to avoid confusion and potential abuse of the system. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

Alongside this, clients will have the option of receiving a free annual hour-long web conference to discuss any topics of their choice.

If litigation is unavoidable and you would like to appoint us as your legal representative, then your use of this service will help to ensure that we are up to speed with the facts and details of any potential claim.

What if I do not have anyone with HR responsibility in my business?

If this is the case, then it is best to appoint someone (ideally someone with sufficient seniority within the business) to have day-to-day responsibility for human resources.

The service can assist with this as its function is not only to advise, but also to explain the law and how it applies to circumstances that your business might be facing, as well as how to guide your business through those circumstances.

What if I already have an HR consultant, manager or adviser?

The aim of this service is not to work in competition with any HR advice that you might already be receiving. It is a service that is geared towards providing support.

We have good working relationships with HR consultants, managers and advisers (whether they are internal or external to your business) and have found that it can be beneficial to discuss matters with them so that we can not only advise on the legal aspects of specific matters, but also assist with the practical considerations and application of the law as well.
